HNET Staff Specialist (DPET & SCoT)

Hunter New England Mental Health (HNEMH) is looking for an experienced consultant psychiatrist for the Director of Prevocational Education and Training (DPET) and Coordinator of Training (SCoT) role. The DPET is responsible for the direction of education and training of prevocational medical trainees at Mater Mental Health and associated mental health units in HNEMH with the fundamental responsibility of ensuring patient safety at all times. The SCoT assists the Network Director of Training in supporting training and education program and guides trainees to complete centralised assessment tasks particularly Scholarly Projects. You will have vision and an optimistic, upbeat personality which inspires positive change in others and experience/skills required to support trainee research projects. You will lead by example and be able to gain the buy in of medical staff by being inclusive and valuing the contribution of each and every member of the team.

The Staff Specialist will be responsible for provision of high quality education and training for junior medical staff and psychiatry trainees & development and maintenance of terms consistent with appropriate accreditation standards. Staff Specialists also provide supervision support, clinical leadership, and participate in the after-hours roster. 

The successful applicant will demonstrate quality clinical leadership, efficient time management, the ability to embrace and lead change, as well as partner with the Network Director of Training and senior health management.
