John Hunter Hospital (JHH) in Newcastle, NSW is looking for a consultant trauma surgeon to be head of Department and responsible for academic leadership.

You will have vision and an upbeat personality which inspires positive change in others. You are energetic, enthusiastic and passionate about what you do, leading by example. You are a fellowship trained trauma surgeon specialising in orthopedic surgery.

JHH is the only Level-1 adult / paediatric trauma centre in NSW outside of Sydney. We are the busiest trauma centre in NSW with >4300 trauma admissions annually (over 450 ISS>15). The Trauma Department, JHH and University of Newcastle is a national leader in trauma research.

JHH is the district’s flag ship hospital and the region’s major tertiary referral centre for adult and paediatric care. We run a primary aeromedical retrieval service.

BreastScreen NSW Hunter New England is seeking a dynamic consultant who is committed to providing best practice breast imaging and procedural services for women attending assessment clinics. You will be required to provide high quality compassionate care with the ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team.

BreastScreen NSW Hunter New England is part of the National Program, BreastScreen Australia, and is managed through Hunter New England Imaging. We have 2 fixed screening and assessment units, 4 full time mobile screening units and 1 shared mobile unit.

Our catchment area includes Lake Macquarie in the south to the Queensland border and covers the Northern Tablelands, the North West Slopes and Plains, the Lower Mid North Coast, the Hunter Valley and Newcastle.

Assessment clinics are held at the NBN Telethon Mater Institute, Newcastle a minimum of twice a week, averaging approximately 35 appointments. In addition, clinics are run on a weekly basis at Tamworth giving you the option of country or city style living.

Maitland Hospital is a health facility for the Upper and Lower Hunter Regions. The hospital is located 35 minutes from the John Hunter Hospital.

A comprehensive range of services is provided including medical and rehabilitation, surgical and day surgery, maternity and child services. There is a busy Emergency Department, and an adult coronary care/high dependency unit. Mental health, dental and renal services are provided on-site, as well as diagnostic services. An array of allied health services, both hospital and community-based, includes occupational therapy, speech pathology, dietetics, psychology, physiotherapy and social work services.
