Staff Specialist - Neurology #393354

The position of  Staff Specialist - Neurology will ensure that; 

  • Clinical Services are focused on delivering excellent clinical care to children and supporting their families.
  •  Research and teaching is undertaken and focused on the area of General Neurology & Epilepsy.

The appointee will join an active tertiary multidisciplinary team with Level 6 clinical care state-wide responsibilities. The Department of Neurology has special interests in Epilepsy (including EEG telemetry and assessment of patients for epilepsy surgery) the administration of the Ketogenic diet, Neuromuscular Disorders (including neurophysiology), Brain Tumours (including cytogenetic profiling) and Neurogenetics.

 

The position requires expertise in

(1) General Neurology

(2) Knowledge and experience in the administration of the Ketogenic diet

(3)Competence in the management of patients with Epilepsy in particular and expertise in Neurophysiology (Peripheral and Central) and Neurogenetics

(4) Interest and experience in provision of education to clinicians and patients in the area of epilepsy.

 

The appointee is required to manage inpatients, out patients and perform on-call duties covering all areas of Neurology. The appointee is required to work independently but be willing to contribute to the activities of the Neurology Unit working collaboratively within the group. The appointee will be required to have an active role in undergraduate and post graduate teaching and to participate in quality assurance activities and peer review.

 

The appointee may be offered a conjoint appointment in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales at a level commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

This position is temporary part time (0.5FTE) and available for 3 years.
