The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District is looking for experienced Anaesthetists to join the team of multidisciplinary staff. The position will be primarily located at Shoalhaven Hospital but scope of practice will also be offered at Wollongong Hospital and Shellharbour Hospital. Opportunities are available for both Staff Specialist and Visiting Medical Officers.

 

The applicant must be dedicated to a teamwork philosophy and be able to support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice whilst providing high quality anaesthetic services to patients.

 

Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy acute care facility which provides emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit that incorporates High Dependency and Coronary Care beds and also provides Emergency Department services. As well as these clinical services, the hospital has a busy Obstetric Unit, and also provides services for children under 16 years of age.

 

The Shoalhaven Hospital is affiliated with the University of Wollongong and supports the training of Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff. As such there are teaching and research opportunities through the UOW Graduate School of Medicine.

Staff Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology

 

The Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD is looking for an experienced Staff Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join the team at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• To provide a hospital consult service for in-patients at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital

(SDMH) in Nowra

• To work in outpatient clinics at Shoalhaven Hospital and outreach to Milton Ulladulla Hospital

• To participate in a 1 in 4 on call roster

 

You will join a busy Maternity Unit with 900 births per year. There are also excellent opportunities in our busy gynaecological service, in particular with endoscopic gynaecology surgery.

 

The Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital (SDMH) is a busy acute care facility which provides emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. We are seeking qualified Emergency Medicine Staff Specialists who enjoy practising Emergency Medicine in an environment with a high consultant clinical involvement and procedural workload. The successful applicants will be located across the District at either Wollongong Hospital, Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital, Shellharbour Hospital or Milton Ulladulla Hospital. Our District Emergency Departments see a combined total of nearly 150,000 patients per year. We have access to most specialities within our region, including general, trauma and sub-speciality surgery, general and sub-speciality medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and mental health.

Milton Ulladulla Hospital is rural acute facility that provides services including emergency, general medical and minor surgical services, antenatal and postnatal services, renal, palliative care, ambulatory care and oncology outpatient’s services for the southern Shoalhaven.

 

The Emergency Department is staffed by FRACGPs and FACRRMs supported by our experienced nursing staff. Shoalhaven Hospital, 50 minutes north, has a busy emergency department staffed with FACEMs who provide support by phone if required in addition to fortnightly medical education on-site. We see 15,000 presentations per annum, and experience peaks during holiday periods as our region swells with tourists enjoying the balance of a rural atmosphere by the sea.

 

As a General Practice Visiting Medical Officer at Milton Ulladulla Hospital you will have the option to elect to work in either the Emergency Department, inpatient care or a combination of both. We are looking for doctors who have a team focus, exceptional communication skills and a desire to learn emergency medicine & inpatient skills in a rural setting.

 

Applicants should have Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Practitioners and/or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.  Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months or interested in working as a GP under supervision are also welcome to apply.
