About Deniliquin District Hospital

Deniliquin District Hospital provides emergency, medical, surgical, and obstetric services.  Of the 45 beds, nine are day surgery, two obstetrics and two bassinets.  Deniliquin hospital is a hub site for surrounding smaller communities and provides a range of community, allied health and mental health/ drug and alcohol outreach services.

 

About Griffith Base Hospital

Griffith Base Hospital is a 117 bed C1 peer grouped  hospital providing a range of acute specialist services (both resident & visiting) including emergency medicine, general medicine,  surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, intensive care, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis and rheumatology.  Each year there are approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 540 births.

 

About Deniliquin

Supported by state-of-the-art technology, the brand new $280 million WWRRH is one of the busiest referral hospitals in NSW with 250 beds. To date more than $14 million of new medical equipment has been installed.

Our Department of Surgery currently has 16 surgeons and a Fellow, covering General, Vascular, Urology, ENT, and Paediatric Surgery. We service a catchment area of approximately 250,000 people and provide surgical services to a number of smaller sites including Young, Cootamundra, Temora, Tumut, Narrandera, Leeton, and Griffith. We also have two clinical schools – UNSW and Notre Dame.

 

We are inviting applications for a Visiting Medical Officer Vascular Surgeon.

 

We require our new Vascular Surgeon to be an experienced VMO with a passion for providing quality surgical services in a rural environment. 

 

The position will involve elective and emergency theatre lists, on-call work, and the clinical management of admitted and referred surgical patients. The VMO will also have responsibilities for training, supervision, and education of junior doctors.

Ideally applicants will be Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or International Medical Graduates, with a minimum 3 years post graduate experience.  

 

This exciting opportunity exists as part of our dynamic team in the Department of Surgery at Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital (WWRRH) which currently has 17 surgeons covering General, Vascular, Urology, ENT, and Paediatric Surgery. About the role
A Visiting Medical Officer is required to provide non procedural GP services at Hillston Multipurpose Service. The VMO will provide a high level of clinical care to patients and participate in the on call roster.

 

Murrumbidgee Local Health District requires Visiting Medical Officers to participate in service and policy development as well as an involvement with education, training and quality projects activities.

Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital (WWRRH) is one of the busiest rural hospitals in NSW with 300 beds over 40,000 emergency presentations, 1,100 births and approximately 11,000 operations each year.  With the new hospital being built in 2016. WWRRH provides medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, rehabilitation, and mental health acute and sub-acute inpatient services.  Specialties include cardiovascular, gastroenterology, renal medicine, obstetrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry and paediatrics. There is also the provision of a full range of allied health and support services.

 

What are we looking for?
We are inviting applications for two (2) positions as Visiting Medical Officers (VMO) within Orthopaedic surgery at WWRH. It is envisaged that these positions will complement the existing skill mix within the department. 

We are looking for applications from Orthopaedic Surgeons with extensive experience in general trauma within a rural orthopaedic setting. The two vacancies available require applicants with experience in either of the following areas:

  • Elective hip/knee
  • Elective shoulder/elbow.

Successful applicants will:

  • Have fellowship of the Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent
  • Be registered as a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Have the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.

Willingness to undertake a small amount of appropriate paediatric orthopaedics is desirable.
