We are seeking dedicated and experienced CMOs to join our friendly team at Griffith Base Hospital, suitable applicants will:

  • Have current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia, with a minimum of three (3) years experience post internship in a Public Hospital or General Practice.B
  • Be competent  in performing adult and paediatric basic/advanced life support as part of a rural multi-disciplinary team, knowledge of procedures required for stabilisation of patients prior to retrieval in an Emergency Department environment.
  • Have knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of general medical practice conditions.
  • Be able to demonstrate an interest in and/ or commitment to adapting new models of care, an understanding of the systematic processes in the provision of health care understanding of change management processes.
  • Have demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education to develop and consolidate personal skills and competencies for enhancement of professional capacity. Sound knowledge of and commitment to Quality Management, Ethnic practices and Cultural Diversity.

At Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) we provide a range of public health services to the Riverina and Murray regions of New South Wales; across a geographic area of approximately 125,631 square kilometres.  With around 241,000 residents living within our District, we employ approximately 4,000 staff who work within our 31 hospitals and community facilities. 

 

A Visiting Medical Officer is required to provide GP Procedural services at Deniliquin Health Service. The VMO will provide a high level of clinical care to patients and participate in the on call roster.

 

Ideally you will possess Joint Consultative Committee qualifications in Anaesthetics (JCCA).

Murrumbidgee LHD also encourages applicants with Obstetrics (JCCO - DRANZCOG advanced or equivalent), Surgery and Emergency Medicine.

 

Deniliquin Hospital is a 41 bed C2 peer grouped District Hospital providing emergency, medical, surgical, and obstetric services.  Of the 41 beds, nine are day surgery and two are bassinets.  Deniliquin is the hub site for surrounding smaller communities, providing Community, Allied Health and Mental Health/ Drug and Alcohol outreach services.

 

Murrumbidgee Local Health District requires Visiting Medical Officers to participate in service and policy development as well as an involvement with education, training and quality projects activities.

Western Sector - Griffith Base Hospital

Griffith Base Hospital (GBH) is a 117 bed C1 peer grouped hospital providing a range of acute specialist services (both resident & visiting) including emergency medicine, general medicine,  surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, intensive care, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis and rheumatology.  Each year there are approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 540 births.

 

Additional services at GBH include physiotherapy, dietetics, pharmacy, occupational therapy and Aboriginal health. There are also a range of diagnostic services including Pathology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, General X-Ray and Mammography.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Director Medical Services (DMS) to lead a committed team of medical officers providing a broad range of clinical services. As part of the Executive Team and working closely with the General Manager, the DMS provides leadership management and strategic direction to improve the quality of health care.

 

The role requires a collaborative approach to lead all aspects of medical service delivery, day to day operational management, and clinical governance including improvement initiatives within the service.

 

A key aspect of the role is to provide a high level of medical administration advice to the executive of GBH and designated facilities and to provide overall management and support of VMOs, Staff Specialists and JMOs.

 

Remuneration
Employment is offered in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
A flexible remuneration package will be negotiated with successful candidate.
