Purpose of Position

To lead a high performing and sustainable medical workforce across NSLHD that will ensure the provision of safe, high quality patient care. The Executive Director will provide advice to the Chief Executive and other Executives on Medical Workforce matters, medico-legal issues and  the relevant statutory requirements. As part of the Executive team, the position will also contribute to decision making on clinical matters across the LHD. settings.

Applications are invited from suitable qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position in Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).


 


This position is to provide a high performing and sustainable medical workforce across NSLHD that will ensure the provision of safe, high quality patient care. As part of the Executive team, the position will also contribute to decision making on clinical matters across the LHD. The position will work with Clinical Directors and clinicians to ensure that clinical operational management structures are effective and support clinical networking across NSLHD.


 


In partnership with Director of Medical Services and Junior Medical Officer Units across the LHD the position will deliver medical workforce initiatives relating to: workforce redesign, multi-professional workforce supply/demand, culture & wellbeing and other NSLHD strategic plan programs.


 


The position is an Expression of Interest for Staff Specialists employed across NSW Health as a secondment opportunity for 6 months with the possibly for extension. 


 


Applicants should have recognised specialist qualifications and be holding fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Human resource management skills and proven ability to coach and support senior executives including Clinical Directors in the performance management and associated challenges of ensuring a sustainable medical workforce

Strong and demonstrated clinical leadership, analytical, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including written and verbal communication skills in liaison and negotiation at all organisational levels and a demonstrated ability to work across a broad range of clinical disciplines

Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement principles, and ability to ensure the provision of high quality clinical services across the LHD

Extensive experience in the management of change and significant organisational reform programs

Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership roles both internal and external to local health organisations
