Purpose of Position

To provide a Developmental & Behavioural Paediatric service to children and families on the Northern Beaches within the Northern Beaches Health Service (NBHS). THis includes the assessment and management of children and their families from 0-18 who present with complex psycho social, developmental and behavioural problems including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, the full range of developmental problems of childhood and child protection problems

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Medical Practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Northern Beaches Health Service, Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).


 


Applicants should have recognised specialist paediatric qualification of the Royal Australian College of Physicians with a minimum of 3 years post Fellowship working either in General Paediatrics or in Community Child Health.


 


Applicants require a recognised sub-specialty qualification in Community Child Health by the R.A.C.P. or demonstrated experience equivalent to that required by Community Child Health Training.


 


The Northern Beaches Child and Family Health Service is a multidisciplinary service with speech pathology, occupational therapy, early childhood nursing, a specialist early intervention program for vulnerable and at risk children and a family care centre for  parents and their babies struggling to  manage with the complex issues associated with parenting in the first year of life.


 


The Northern Beaches Developmental and Behavioural Paediatric Service is part of the Child and Family Health Service and provides holistic assessment and ongoing management of children 0 -18 years who present with complex psychosocial, developmental and behavioural problems and child protection problems.

Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, registered or eligible to be registered with the Medical Board of Australia and recognised specialist paediatric qualification and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians with a minimum of three years working either in general paediatrics or in community child health

Recognised sub-specialty qualification in community child health by the RACP or demonstrated experience equivalent to that required by community child health training

Demonstrated clinical experience in the assessment and management of the full range of developmental and behavioural problems in children 0-18 including ASD, ADHD, developmental delay, complex psychosocial problems and child protection problems

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in assessing and managing parent child interaction difficulties, attachment disorders and their impact on childhood wellbeing

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills

Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in perinatal infant mental health

Demonstrated experience in teaching and commitment to publishing research as relevant to the position
