Purpose of Position

The Safety & Quality Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the quality program throughout all areas of the service whilst providing leadership, support and training to all staff in the safety & quality system. The Infection Control responsibilities include  the development, implementation, education and evaluation of effective Infection Control standards in a non-acute setting. The staff wellbeing component of the role has responsibility for identifying programs and strategies to assist the organisation in becoming a centre of excellence for a healthy workforce.

Selection Criteria 1. Possess an undergraduate degree in health, social science or related field with significant recent experience in quality and safety , infection control, and staff wellbeing within a health care setting.

2. Sound understanding of the National Safety & Quality in Healthcare Standards and experience with ACHS EQuIP National Accreditation (or similar) and applying continuous improvement methodology concepts across an organisation using a systematic approach in risk management.

3. Ability to interpret relevant Legislation, Codes of Practice and Ministry of Health policies and prepare new/update local policies, guidelines, procedures and forms.

4. Demonstrated ability in engaging, facilitating and coordinating various disciplines, multidisciplinary teams and consumers through effective interpersonal;, verbal and written communication.

5. Ability to identify, implement, analyse, monitor, report and evaluate quality initiatives, interpret infection control and other health related data and identify and communicate programs on staff health and wellbeing.

6. Demonstrated ability to ensure that improvements made are sustained through education policy development/implementation and evaluation.

7. Demonstrated ability in the management of multiple projects at one time, prioritise meet deadlines, work independently and as part of a team.

8. Demonstrated high level computer skills in Microsoft Office applications; possess a current NSW driver’s licence.
