Purpose of Position

Provide clinical services in the Department of Cardiology, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital which will include general cardiology, diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures. This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the SLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
Selection Criteria Registered medical practitioner (or eligible for registration) with the Medical Board of Australia and a Fellow of the relevant specialist medical college (Royal Australian College of Physicians, specialising in Cardiology).

Demonstrated ability in the fields of echocardiography.

Demonstrated ability in cardiac MRI scanning and reporting. Level 3 SCMR accreditation highly desirable.

Demonstrated medical research. A higher degree (eg PhD) in this area is desirable.

Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.

Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established, if requested and credentialed.

Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at an undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff. Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.

Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/continuing professional development.

Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of public health organisations, including the provision of services to local community, effective utilisation of resources, preparedness to participate in provision of health services at LHD level, if credentialed.
