A great opportunity for an ENT Surgeon to join our team at Tamworth.
An experienced ENT Surgeon is required to provide effective specialist adult and paediatric ENT inpatient service to Tamworth Hospital. The position involves elective and emergency theatre lists and acute on-call work, privately referred outpatient consultantcy/procedural services in private practice in your own rooms. Participation in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students is also required. Work will occur in both the public and private sector and may occur in Tamworth or other localities within the North West area of Hunter New England Health.
Tamworth Hospital services a local community of 55,000 and a referral community of 175,000. It has 288 beds and conducts over 9000 surgical procedures p.a. and is equipped with 4 operating theatres and an endoscopy suite. The ED is the busiest non-metro ED in NSW and sees over 43,000 presentations p.a. The hospital provides a referral ENT service for the NSW North West area.
Over the next few years Tamworth Hospital will undergo significant redevelopment . Stage 1, the North West Cancer Centre is now in operation. Stage 2, the acute services building including an 8 operation theatre complex, ED and ICU and other acute medical and surgical services is due for completion in 2015.
Tamworth is a regional capital city, about half way between Sydney and Brisbane. Tamworth has a vibrant CBD with a great variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants, and has a thriving arts and cultural program including theatre, cinema, dance and live music. There are excellent local public and private schools and a huge range of leisure, recreational and sporting activities on offer.
Applicants must have a primary medical degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia and possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Health Insurance Act of 1973 enabling practice as an ENT Surgeon in NSW.
