Purpose of Position

The Advanced Trainee under supervision will provide effective medical services within a patient centred geriatric model of care to patients, while developing expertise in a Geriatrician led interdisciplinary care and management practice, in a complex clinical environment. There is the opportunity to rotate through subspecialty modules within Geriatric Medicine including orthogeriatrics, psychogeriatrics, day hospital and the domiciliary services of the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) in addition to acute and subacute patient care. In addition one of the rotations is designed to facilitate care of patients in RACF using ehealth to attempt to avoid unnecessary hospitalisations and ED presentations.  This is an RACP accredited training position and appointment can be made for up to two years.


This is a temporary full time 38hpw position until 5 February 2017 with the possibility of an extension at same/reduced hours.

Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Eligible for RACP Advanced Training and demonstrated commitment to relevant Advanced Training program.

Ability to move between services and geographical locations to deliver patient care.

Successful completion of, or working towards completion of, the relevant College examinations.

Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.

Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.
