Purpose of Position

Project management and manufacture of human cellular therapeutics in the clean room laboratories of the Department of Cell and Molecular Therapies (CMT) at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

 

A Senior Hospital Scientist with a background in cell culture and/or tissue engineering is required for a new position in the Department of Cell & Molecular Therapies at RPA. This an opportunity to be involved in the establishment and operation of a specialist department producing clinical cell therapies based on cutting-edge science.

 

This position is Permanent Full Time and is classified as a Senior Scientific Officer.

Selection Criteria An appropriate science degree from an approved University in a relevant discipline, or equivalent

Extensive experience in a medical scientific laboratory environment with specific experience in mammalian cell culture, preferably human primary cells.

Experience working in a regulated environment with sound knowledge of both OGTR and cGMP requirements for the manufacture of human cell products, pharmaceuticals, biologicals or medical devices

Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems in complex cell biology systems.

Ability to maintain an effective cGMP compliant laboratory service through the development of Standard Operating Procedures, management of resources and performance of tasks in a time-critical manner under limited supervision.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to teach other staff new skills.

Competence and the ability to work as part of a team, or independently as required.

Ability and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours roster to attend to equipment and manufacturing demands as required.
