Purpose of Position

The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the nursing and other relevant staff under their delegation and coordination of the provision of nursing care. The Nursing Unit Manager leads nursing staff, ensures effective liaison between all health professionals and is responsible for the environmental and occupational health and safety management of the unit.

Selection Criteria Demonstrated strong leadership skills

Experience in quality and change management promoting clinical excellence

Advanced communication and negotiation skills and experience in conflict resolution

Proficient problem solving skills and experience in performance management

Experience in rostering; managing skill mix and patient acuity.

Holding or working towards relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience

Proven clinical management experience in a tertiary hospital.

Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
