Purpose of Position

This position provides a facility based resource available to be deployed, at the facility Nurse Manager’s discretion, to any clinical area within the facility in order to manage unplanned surges in activity.

The nursing hours provided by the Facility Nurse must be additional to the planned staffing level and where applicable, in addition to the Award specified Nursing Hour per Patient Day (NHPPD). In these wards the hours worked by the Facility Nurse are to be excluded from Spot Checks and NHPPD monitoring systems.

Selection Criteria 1. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).

2. A suitably experienced Registered Nurse with acute nursing experience across a variety of clinical settings, including emergency department.

3. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.

4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

5. Demonstrates an understanding of the Continuous Quality Improvement concepts.

6. Computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems, including Firstnet.

7. Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
