The Team Leader of the Dementia Behaviour Assessment and Management Service (DBAMS) in consultation with the Nursing Unit Manager Yathong Lodge is responsible for the coordination, management, effective operation and strategic development of the DBAMS within the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (LHD). Specific areas of responsibility include: clinical service provision; incident management; financial management and human resource management. The Team Leader will be expected to provide clinical leadership, consultation and guidance to all members of the DBAMS clinical team. The incumbent will also be required to undertake clinical duties as a DBAMS Clinician in accordance with their relevant professional discipline. This will constitute the main focus of the position with approximately 12 hours per week dedicated to the Team Leader role (0.3FTE) and the remaining time dedicated to the provision of clinical services.
The service provides consumer focused, evidence based best practice services to consumers over 65 years referred to the service with moderate to severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Families and carers of consumers also form part of the broader target group for the DBAMS. Capacity building work with other local services for the elderly is an important function of the DBAMS.
