Purpose of Position

Clinical Governance is a MLHD Executive Portfolio responsible for establishing, directing, managing, evaluating, initiating and implementing patient safety and clinical quality systems, and for the promotion and support of clinical excellence within the  District Health Service. Clinical Governance provides high level expert advice to the Chief Executive and Board, working collaboratively with other members of the MLHD Executive and Health staff. Clinical Governance develops and maintains effective relationships with NSW Ministry of Health, other Health District, the Clinical Excellence Commission and external agencies in their quality and safety endeavours. Clinical Governance is a District-wide multidisciplinary department that incorporates core staff with expertise and knowledge in this field.


Working with the Quality Systems and Complaints Manager this position is responsible for the efficient monitoring, reporting and management  of consumers complaints and the provision of user support for the Incident Information Management System (IIMS) and the, Quality Systems Assessment (QSA) in the MLHD
In addition the position will also assist in the coordination if the Collaborating Hospital Audit of Surgical Mortality (CHASM) Program, within the MLHD

This is a Permanent Full Time position and classified as a Health Manager Level 1.

Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated knowledge and genuine commitment to the requirements of the NSW Health Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Program

2. Proven ability in education of others and highly efficient time management skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

3. Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant legislation policy and practice relating to health service delivery, familiarity with the Code of Conduct, confidentiality, privacy legislation and sourcing of information.

4. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and verbal written and communication skills

5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of software solutions and systems

6. Demonstrated ability to work positively, empathetically and effectively with consumers, staff and professionals experiencing extreme difficulties

7. Ability and willingness to travel long distances in relation to work

8. Current Drivers licence
