Purpose of Position

The care, welfare, husbandry and breeding management of animals held and bred at the WSLHD animal facilities and to support medical and scientific research at WSLHD.

This position is permanent full time, working 38 hours per week and is classified as an Animal Technician.

 

Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

Selection Criteria 1. Qualifications in animal technology or animal related field or experience working in animal research facilities.


2. Familiarity and experience with the husbandry of non-rodent species used in research and knowledge and experience in working with genetically modified animals (including breeding of GM rodents).

3. Demonstrated high quality record keeping skills and attention to detail.

4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of animal research regulatory requirements (Animal Research Act, NHMRC Code and OGTR guidelines).

5. Capacity to liaise effectively and relate well to clinicians, research staff and students.

6. A dedicated commitment to animal welfare.
