Purpose of Position

The primary purpose of the Education Support Officer (ESO) role is to support the Network Director of Training, Emergency Medicine to ensure the smooth running and organisation of the networked training programme, including all medical education activities and projects at all sites.

 

The ESO will provide full administrative and organisational support in coordinating meetings and training programmes across the network, liaising with trainees, Emergency Physicians and Directors of Emergency Medicine Training (DEMTs), undertaking evaluations and analysis of trainee terms and training sessions, collating budgets and preparing reports to the local Network Committee and RACEM and HETI.

 

This necessitates an ability to ensure effective communication with stakeholders to ensure the continued success of the Emergency Medicine education program, as well as engaging in process and quality improvement activities for the program.

This position is permanent part time, working 19 hours per week and is classified as a Health Manager Level 2.

Selection Criteria 1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in adult education within a health care environment including understanding of the principles of adult learning, previous experience in the coordination, management, development and evaluation of education programs.

2. Experience with formal committee processes and provision of secretariat support.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the capacity to prepare high quality reports, briefings, submissions, business cases and correspondence.

3. Strong personal organisational skills and proven experience in the management of complex projects and multiple tasks in a timely manner and to meet assigned deadlines.

4. Proactive with the capacity to work with minimum direction, and undertake a diverse range of tasks relating to the management of an educational training program.

4. Capacity to maintain and/or set up relevant databases and financial records. Demonstrated experience managing record keeping and financial procedures, effective skills in office systems, including word processing, Microsoft Access database, and spreadsheet packages to provide high level administrative support.

5. Experience in and broad knowledge of the NSW healthcare system, particularly as it applies to postgraduate medical education and training.

6. Ability to work as an effective member of a team in a high pressure, high volume work environment. Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia and ability to undertake some rural travel.
