Purpose of Position

 

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) will be responsible for the delivery and evaluation of clinical nursing education.  The CNE will work in collaboration  with the Nurse Manager (NM)/Nursing Unit Manager (NUM)/Nurse Educator (NE) and wider hospital team to develop and implement clinical education relevant to  specialties and basic nursing competencies.


The CNE will work collaboratively to support clinical education to others outside the ward/ unit as and when required.

 

 

Variety Ward - Oncology and General Medical Isolation

Variety Club Ward at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is primarily an infectious unit that cares for children requiring isolation. The care needed ranges from infectious oncology and general medical patients, babies with respiratory illnesses, patients with infected eczema, gastro and other gastro intestinal diseases. The Variety Ward also cares for outlying non-infectious oncology patients and patients requiring bone marrow transplants

 

This position is Permanent Part Time working 16 hours per week and is classified as a Clinical Nurse Educator.

 

Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

Selection Criteria 1. Registered Nurse with a current Licence to practice from Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2.Relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.

3.Demonstrated effective clinical teaching skills.

4.Demonstrated commitment to clinical and professional development.

5.Demonstrated advanced written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

6.Knowledge and understanding of EQUIP/Numerical profile.

7.Knowledge of Adult learning principles.

8.Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and in the use of e-mail and Internet.
