Purpose of Position

To maintain quality assurance and clinical standards within the department.

 

Provide clinical information to both medical professionals and the general public via the telephone regarding the assessment and treatment of poisonings, bites and stings, and to answer drug information enquiries.

 

This position is Permanent Part Time working 28 hours per week and is classified as a Pharmacist Grade 3.

Selection Criteria 1. Bachelor/ Masters Degree in Pharmacy (overseas graduates must be eligible for registration in Australia) or Bachelor Degree in Science/ Medical Science with Pharmacology Major (overseas graduates must provide an educational assessment from AEI- National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition).

2. Previous work experience as a Specialist in Poisons Information, in a Poisons Information Centre

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

4. Sound understanding of the hospital's policies and procedures, WH&S requirements and subsequent implementation of these within the department

5. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and ability to work and interact with a wide range of people.

6. Ability to lead productive teams and work autonomously when required to manage workflow and meet deadlines.

7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

8. Demonstrated ability to accurately assess and interpret medical information.
