Purpose of Position

To provide Biomedical Engineering support to clinical units within the Children's Hospital at Westmead.


An opportunity exists to join a clinically oriented Biomedical Engineering department within the Sydney Children's Hospital Network of NSW Health. As a Paediatric focused organisation, there is the opporunity to a part of a team involved in groundbreaking development and clinical support opportunites in Sydney.


The role is within an ISO9001 accredited department specialising in ensuring the highlest level of clinical equipment and systems are available to support the Medical, Nursing and Allied Health staff of SCHN facilities.


This position is Permanent Full Time and is classified as a Technical Officer Grade 2.

Selection Criteria 1. A qualification from an Institute of TAFE at least equivalent to the AQF Certificate 4 level. Acceptable qualifications include …
• Electronics & Communications Certificate,
• Associate Diploma in Electronics,
• Diploma in Electronics,
• Advanced Diploma in Electronics.

2. Demonstrated experience in supporting medical equipment and clinical activities.

3. Demonstrated experience in the repair of equipment containing digital and analogue circuits.

4. Demonstrated experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment including electronic, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

5. Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to use common word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database tools.

6. Ability to work on own and be a self-starter.

7. Demonstrated knowledge of Australian and international standards in the medical equipment area.

8. Demonstrated experience with Information Technology Systems, with special consideration given to experience in the clinical environment.
