Purpose of Position

Western Sydney Local Health District is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region; and comprises Westmead, Blacktown Mount Druitt, Auburn and Cumberland Hospitals serving a broad range of specific healthcare needs to more than 876,500 local residents as well as State-wide specialty services. Departments of Pharmacy are located at Westmead, Blacktown Mount Druitt and Auburn Hospitals. This role would be:

  •  Leading the systems and processes for medicines procurement e.g. rebate schemes and contracts, across WSLHD
  • Optimising medicine opportunities to achieve improvements in quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Identifying and realising potential areas for investment/disinvestment in relation to the quality use of medicines.

This position is permanent full time, working 38 hours per week and is classified as a Health Manager Level 3.


Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated significant experience working in clinical environments as a health practitioner.

2. Demonstrated experience of pharmacoeconomics, financial management and contract management including attention to detail.

3. Experience in critical literature evaluation, drug utilisation evaluation, change management, research and quality assurance activities.

4. Experience in pharmaceutical supply chain with demonstrated experience in implementing, maintaining and improving systems that support them.

5. Demonstrated Strong consultation, negotiation & influencing skills.

6. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.

7. Ability to analyse and solve complex challenges / problems, including option appraisals.
