Purpose of Position

Pathology Collection demands have remained constant with the urgency for increasing patient flow through the Hospitals.
Efficient collection services will increase patient care / treatment and flow; leading to a high level of patient care, decreased hospital costs and increased bed availability.

 

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Diseases. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.

 

An eligibility list will be created for future permanent part time, temporary and casual vacancies.

 

This position is a permanent position. To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only occur if there is no suitable local applicant.

 

Selection Criteria Certificate III in Pathology Collection within the past 12 months or recent/past venepuncture experience in Australia and/or overseas.

Demonstrated clear written and verbal communication skills with focus on customer service.

Willingness to participate in rotating shifts and locations within NSW Health Pathology.

Competency in computers and willing to undergo IT related training relevant to job.

Current unencumbered Class C drivers licence or applicable overseas license to drive in Australia.

Ability to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team with excellent interpersonal skills.
