Purpose of Position

The position is to manage the operations of the engineering, maintenance and planning functions of the building and major assets of all WSLHD facilities, in line with relevant industry standards, policies, procedures, regulations and legislations. The position also provides high level technical support to the capital works and redevelopment projects for WSLHD


The position is to manage the operations of the engineering, maintennace and planning functions of the building and major assets for ll WSLHD facilities, in line with industry standards, policies, procedures, regulations and legislations.  The position is also responsible for the monitoring and management of maintennace departments and staff at Blacktown, Mt Druitt, Auburn, Westmed and Cumberland Hopsitals, Community Health Centres and other sites within WSLHD as may be added from time to time.

This position is permanent full time, working 40 hours per week and is classified as a Health Manager Level 5.

Selection Criteria 1. Recognised formal Tertiary qualifications within the engineering discipline preferably within Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services, and/or demonstrated equivalent or relevant professional experience gained in large more complex working environments.

2. Appropriate post graduate qualifications within Facilities Management or Building Services coupled with good knowledge of the principles surrounding Building Codes of Australia (BCA), NABERS or Green Star accreditation framework would be considered highly desirable.

3. Demonstrated experience in risk management and asset condition management, including the development and implementation of strategic asset management planning, quality maintenance procedures and lifecycle modelling

4. Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and managing service- based contracts, including preparation of tender evaluation, negotiation, resolving issues, contractor administration and performance management of service contracts through effective key performance indicators (KPIs).

5. Demonstrated effective leadership and interpersonal management skills including high level communication and effective escalation of issues; inform senior management; motivate internal staff; and external service providers to achieve maintenance strategic objectives.

6. Demonstrate sound knowledge of State and Federal legislation, codes, standards, practises, and accreditation that are applicable within NSW health- care facility maintenance service environment.

7. Understanding of the principles of anti-discrimination, equal opportunity and ethical practise within the working environment, including work health and safety obligations, and the willingness and capacity to implement effective policies, and procedures, record keeping and reporting protocols (specifically in line with the NSW Skilled Trades Award).

8. Proficient in the use of computer applications and systems.
