Purpose of Position

The Visiting Dental Officer will provide clinical management and treatment of patients in Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital as part of the shared services agreement.  This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the SESLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

Selection Criteria Registration or eligible for registration with Dental Board of Australia (AHPRA);

Demonstrated commitment to continuing Dental education relevant to area of practice and a willingness to commit to an equitable hospital on-call roster;

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with Dental and other health service colleagues as part of a multi disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team;

Willingness to teach Dental students and other staff of the hospital when reasonably requested.

Appropriate experience in treating both Adult and Paediatric patients;

Evidence of continuing Dental education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position;

Demonstrated understanding and commitment to clinical quality improvement, peer review, equal employment opportunity & OHS requirements;

Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriates as a senior Dental Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior dental staff.
