Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for the development, delivery, review and evaluation of research governance activities and reporting to ensure that Researchers comply with legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures at National, State and local level by governing the conduct of research across South Western Sydney Local Health District.

Selection Criteria Understanding of health and medical research environment in Australia and related legislation, codes and guidelines relevant to clinical and research ethics, including the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, relevant privacy acts and guidelines, the Human Tissue Act.

Demonstrated research experience in a health setting or experience in a health services environment with proven experience in research project management, including submission and communication with an Ethics Committee.

Understanding of Governance matters for research applications. This includes indemnity and insurance arrangement clinical trials agreements and/or contractual arrangements for research projects.

Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent, relevant experience and/or training.

Demonstrated high level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, such as negotiation and report writing applicable in both a research and administrative context.

Sound organisational skills, the ability to successfully prioritise and manage competing issues and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated experience in using office computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and data bases.
