Purpose of Position

> Provide sterilisation services, ensuring that processes and procedures are completed in accordance with statutory requirements, NSW Health policy directives and SNSWLHD policies and procedures.

>  Carry out core business of the department by working as a sterilisation technician to provide sterile and thermally disinfected reuseable medical and surgical equipment to all areas for use in patient care.

>  Work collaboratively with the Perioperative Nursing staff and other SSU staff to ensure all facets in the reprocessing of reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment and maintenance of associated cleaning and sterilising equipment is undertaken in compliance with AS/NZS 4187 and International Standards.

> To provide best practice sterisation services to all wards/theatres and departments of the Goulburn Health Service,other SNSWLHD facilities including private and external clients utilising the Sterilising Service. 

> When succesful and applicants do get their sterilising certificate, regrading will occur to grade 2.

 

This is a Permenant Full Time position, working 38 hours per week , and classified as  Sterilisation Technician Grade 1. This position is located in Goulburn which belongs to Southern NSW Local Health District.

Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated computer skills.

2. Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances with the Health Service and evidence of a Class C drivers licence.

3. Willingness to train in all SSU areas.

4. Ability to receive and communicate information in a professional manner within a complex work enviroment.

5.Abilitity to work as part of a team and independently.
