Purpose of Position

The primary responsibility for the position is the provision of general medicine care to patients of Shellharbour Hospital. The position will support the development of stroke services at Shellharbour Hospital and may be required to relieve at Wollongong Hospital. Accordingly, the position will suit a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in General Medicine, who has an interest in stroke medicine and experience in neurology to at least the level of an Advanced Trainee or equivalent.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Staff Specialist in General Medicine to join the team at Shellharbour Hospital. The position is 0.50FTE and will support the development of stroke services.

Selection Criteria 1. Registration or eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)in General Medicine.

3. Demonstrated experience in stroke and neurology to at least the level of an Advanced Trainee.

4. Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality General Medicine services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.

5. Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.

6. Prepared to participate equally in the General Medicine after hours roster.

7. Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
