Purpose of Position

In addition to general dermatology, this job primarily requires training and supervision of dermatology trainees in the department in complex surgical procedures. The staff specialist may have to perform some procedures themselves too.

Structured teaching at every visit is desirable in addition to the bedside teaching.

Formal surgical training with demonstrated experience and skills in complex procedural surgery would be required.

A shared on call roster with other staff specialists for after hours general dermatology cover.

Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care. This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

The position is for a Staff Specialist - Procedural Dermatolgist required for alternate Wednesday's.

Selection Criteria Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellow of the relevant specialist medical college Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice

Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management

Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff

Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education / continuing professional development

Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an Area level, if credentialed

Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established, if requested and credentialed

Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team
