PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

• The Medication Endorsed Enrolled Nurse works collaboratively with relevant members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of nursing care within the unit.

• The Medication Endorsed Enrolled Nurse demonstrates competence in the provision of patient-centred care as specified by the Nurses’ & Midwives Board NSW licence to practice, educational preparation and context of care. The Enrolled Nurse works under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.

• The Medication Endorsed Enrolled Nurse is required to practice in accordance with the following Australian Nursing Council (ANC) competencies (2002) and within the enrolled nurse scope of practice.

The Ambulatory Surgical Unit has 4 operating rooms and a 10 bed Recovery Room. The Unit caters for mainly day stay patients in the following specialties: Oral Surgery, IVF egg retrievals, cataract / occuloplastic / corneal graft surgery and dental work under general anaesthesia for adults, children and people with special needs/ challenging behaviours.

The service is Monday to Friday - weekends and public holidays off.
