Purpose of Position

The Grade 1 pharmacists rotate between the ward & service area rosters. On the wards they provide pharmaceutical care to inpatients of RNS & Ryde Hospitals as rostered. In service areas they provide pharmacist support to the service being provided, e.g. dispensary The position of registered pharmacist exists under the management of the Director of Medical Services. The position is in the Pharmacy Department and provides clinical pharmacy services, education & supply of medication to inpatients & outpatients of NSRHS, as well as medicines information & education to medical, nursing & allied health staff. It is a rotational position.


Royal North Shore Hospital Pharmacy department is seeking motivated and skilled Pharmacists to assist with our transition to new Hospital Facilities and associated work practice changes. You will have the opportunity to experience a range of clinical and service areas within the department and may directly contribute to planned infrastructure changes.

This contract will give you a 'foot-in-the-door' at a major teaching hosptial on the cusp of implementing hospital wide technology completly changing the way that medicines are distritbuted to patients. RNS will be the first hospital in Australia to implement this technology across all clinical areas. This is an opportunity not to be missed at an exciting time for our industry.

There are up to 5 short term (3 month) contracts available, job share and part-time applicants will be considered.

This position is Temporary Full time or Part time. The classification depends on qualifications. Job Share may be considered for this position.

Selection Criteria 1. Current registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (or eligible for immediate registration)

2. Good clinical pharmacy knowledge

3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally & in writing

4. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of continuing education and professional development.

5. Good problem solving skills and initiative

6. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload in a dynamic work environment.
