This position of Assistant in Nursing will work within a dedicated multi-disciplinary team environment in Wyong Sub-Acute Geriatric Rehabilitation Ward.

The Assistant in Nursing is an integral part of the nursing team.

Working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse the Assistant in Nursing will assist in the provision of nursing care to elderly patients requiring slow stream rehabilitation and restorative care following an acute episode in hospital.

This position involves:

• Provision of support to the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care in a sub-acute care environment as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Provide direct care activities to patients in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses with patient care interventions as directed.
• Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required.Communicate effectively with patients and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate protocols

Lead by a Geriatrician and dedicated medical staff, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new, dynamic team in a brand new environment providing multidisciplinary slow stream rehabilitation and restorative care to elderly residents following an acute episode in hospital. This ward will be integral to the provision of specialist geriatric care and improved outcomes across the care continuum for elderly patients on the Central Coast.
