Purpose of Position

The Clinical Coding Auditor is responsible for managing, co-ordinating and undertaking a continuous audit and quality program for clinical coders within the LHD.

The position will provide feedback/education to the Clinical Coding Team, Clinical Specialties and the Executive.

The position will also be responsible for the design, development and implementation of training and education programs for experienced and trainee coders.

The position provides advice, exchanges information, gives presentations, negotiates and consults on a wide range of issues. The position will also coordinate education activities for both trainee and experienced coders. The position will be required to produce reports and interrogate coded data.

 

An opportunity exists for a district clinical coding auditor/educator to join the HIS teams at Gosford and Wyong hospitals as part of the CCLHD.

Selection Criteria Degree in Health Information Management or successful completion of a recognized coding course

Extensive experience in undertaking various clinical coding audits

Knowledge of Casemix and the NSW Health reporting requirements

Highly developed organizational, communication and leadership skills

Experience with Patient Administration System/eMR

Experience with coordination of quality activities, clinical coding auditing and analyzing/validating audit results

High level of experience and competence in clinical classification using ICD-10-AM and ACHI with a thorough understanding of the Australian Coding Standards

Ability to communicate and report on audit results to a range of stakeholders including clinicians, researchers, the LHD executive and other professionals
