Purpose of Position

In this position, male gender and Aboriginality are genuine occupational qualifications authorised by sections 14 and 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

 

The PHCW (Men’s Health) as a member of the Primary Health Care Team will participate in the planning and implementation of programs and services for the Aboriginal community especially in regard to men’s health, with an emphasis on ensuring respectful and responsive health service delivery, and health promotion activities are developed through a community development approach to address identified Aboriginal Health needs of the community. They will work collaboratively with the team and community to promote a comprehensive primary health care approach to health and wellbeing by providing appropriate clinical care, illness prevention strategies and chronic care management.

Selection Criteria 8. Current driver’s licence

7. Understanding of Indigenous men’s health issues and the ability to develop and deliver men’s health programs

6. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of primary health care

5. An effective team player in a multidisciplinary environment

4. Ability to work in a way the fosters mutual respect in a cross cultural environment

3. Diploma in Indigenous Primary Health Care or equivalent

2. Male gender (as authorised under section 31 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977)
