Purpose of Position
  • The Registered Nurse is a pivotal role in the provision of safe, accurate and timely care of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Clinically based, the registered nurse is responsible for anticipating and responding to the needs of patients and provides quality care consistent with MLHD policy and procedure.
  •  Multi-disciplinary communication will form part of the daily workloads of the emergency department service. Including the use of recognised communication tools such as the ISBAR tool
  • Advanced clinical and triage skills are essential to fulfil this demanding role.
  • The sole practitioner in the Emergency Department is also in-charge of the facility after-hours and is expected to supervise and manage staff during this time and oversee safe patient care throughout the facility.
 

This is a Permanent Full Time position, working 38 hours  per week, and classified as a Registered Nurse. This position is located in Corowa and belongs to Murrumbidgee Local Health District.  Job share will be considered.

Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated competencies in and or knowledge of the complexities and challenges involved in caring for patients/clients within the Emergency Department

2. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a rural health setting

3. Knowledge of and ability to work within a patient centred approach to nursing with a willingness to show leadership and embrace change in the coordination and delivery of care

4. Demonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence based practice and an understanding of recent contemporary changes in Emergency Nursing

5. Knowledge, understanding and commitment to the principles of Quality, Infection control, WHS and EEO

6. Demonstrated competencies in and or knowledge of complexities and challenges involved in after-hours in charge role of a rural facility

7. Current registration with AHPRA
