Purpose of Position

The purpose of the position is to develop and implement a coordinated, evidenced based, seamless, patient focused approach to providing cancer nursing care to prostate cancer patients


The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead is seeking a suitable applicant to fill a 3 Year contract funded position (a national pilot project) from Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia . The role of Prostate Cancer Nurse Specialist is hosted by Western Sydney Local Health District to work in partnership across all health areas and sectors including non-government agencies to contribute the continuity and quality of care for patients diagnosed with prostate cancer.  The post holder is required to develop and implement a coordinated, evidenced based, seamless, patient focused approach to providing cancer nursing care.

This position is Temporary Full Time working 38 hours per week up until 3rd April 2015 and is classified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2.

Selection Criteria Registered Nurse in Australia.

Minimum 3 years practice in cancer or urological nursing with demonstrated relevant advanced level of skill in cancer or urological nursing.

Possess or intend to undertake a Oncology or Urology specific nursing qualification or certificate

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary context.

Ability to work effectively as a team member.

Proven leadership qualities.

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

Evidence of participation in and commitment to quality improvement and best practice principles.
