Purpose of Position

To provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in  Haematology, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.  


The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and, where required, the encouragement of an academic environment which supports research and development.


Applications are sought for a 0.4 FTE position as a Staff Specialist in Haematology based at Campbelltown and Liverpool Hospitals. The applicant must have current registration in NSW as a Medical Practitioner, as well as joint FRACP and FRCPA qualifications in Haematology.


Desireable criteria include a track record in teaching and research as well as demonstrated ability to work within a medical team and communicate effectively with other health professionals. 



This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.

Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise within the specialty of Haematology.

2. Have obtained the FRACP qualification in Haematology.

3. Have obtained the FRCPA qualification in Haematology.

4. Demonstrated commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.

5. Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication and interpersonal skills and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.

6. Demonstrated personal qualities including effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.

7. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management and continuous improvement and a contemporary knowledge of National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) Standards and NATA accreditation processes.
