The Cancer Institute NSW (the Institute) is Australia’s first state wide cancer control agency, established to lessen the impact of cancer in NSW.  The Institute supports and promotes best practice; working to ensure people across the state, no matter where they live, are provided the same high quality treatment and care that is vital to optimising the outcomes and quality of life for people diagnosed with cancer.


BreastScreen NSW is seeking applications from an appropriately qualified and experienced radiologist to fill the role of Clinical Director. This key leadership position is critical to promoting and supporting the delivery of a high quality BreastScreen service in NSW.


The position is part-time at 2 to 3 days/week negotiable.


The Role


The Clinical Director for BreastScreen NSW is responsible for providing professional and strategic clinical leadership to BreastScreen NSW, including specialist and expert advice to the network of BreastScreen NSW services and State Coordination Unit.

The Clinical Director will drive service development and quality improvement across the BreastScreen NSW services, and work closely with the service teams to develop standardised state wide systems, policies and procedures, as well as lead clinical workforce development to ensure delivery of a safe and high quality service for the BreastScreen NSW Program.  This role will foster an environment of innovation and support the development of new evidence within BreastScreen NSW.


Skills and Experience


•          Current medical registration with APHRA

•          Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR)

•          Demonstrated expertise and clinical experience in breast imaging

•          Expertise in leading and participating in multidisciplinary teams

•          Strong relationship management skills and demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships with internal and external stakeholders

•          Demonstrated advanced consultation, conflict resolution, negotiation and communication skills





•          Previous participation and experience in research projects and/or clinical trials/audit.

Note that this role replaces the State Radiologist position.
