Purpose of Position

Undertake clinical work as part of the Goulburn Community Mental Health Team. Whilst this is a District wide position for SNSW LHD, MHDA Service, services will primarily be provided at Goulburn Community Mental Health. Provision of consultation and liaison to local General Practitioners, Mental Health services and any other key stakeholders as required. Provision of education sessions to the mental health team any other key stakeholders as required. Work with the Clinical Director and senior managers of Southern LHD Mental Health Service and Comply with the legislative and policy requirements of Southern NSW LHD Mental Health.

Understanding of the particular mental health needs of the adult population.

Recent experience in a clinical psychiatry role in a adult mental health service.

Experience working within the framework of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated high quality written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals and agencies.


Clinical skills appropriate to the provision of adult psychiatry consultation within community mental health setting.


Provision of adult consultant psychiatry services within the Mental Health Service of Southern NSW Local Health District, MHDA

Selection Criteria Evidence of a Medical qualification that is registrable with the: Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Demonstrated significant experience and qualification in the relevant nominated specialty practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice.

Evidence of a Fellowship of a recognised Australasian Specialist College in the area of specialty and proof of recognition as a specialist by the Specialists Recognition Advisory Committee.

Evidence, after full registration, of no less than five years in the practice of medicine in New South Wales Health System or in any other institution deemed by the SLHN to be of equivalent standing inclusive no less than three years in supervised specialist training and/or experience.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multi disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team.
