Purpose of Position

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated medical officer with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. 

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Registrar in Rehabilitation Medicine (approved for 12 months of core training) from individuals in Rehabilitation who have completed at the time of application the requirements for AFRM Fellowship. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in AFRM accredited training positions.
Successful applicants will:
• Acquire transitional experience from a rehabilitation medicine Senior Registrar to a qualified rehabilitation medicine consultant.
• Take part in clinical functional of mobile rehabilitation medicine unit and rehabilitation in the homes teams with special emphasis on the consultation service and patient flow.
• Gain comprehensive experience in managing a complex consultation service in a tertiary teaching hospital.
• Participate in College CME programs.
• Undertake research projects in rehabilitation medicine or complete funding documents for at least two relevant projects.
• Participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff, to participate in continuing medical education (CME) and quality assurance (QA) programs.
• Successful applicants will be part of a team of 8 Staff Specialists (3FTE) and will be participating in the supervision of 2 trainees and 2 RMOs.
Adequate round the clock support is available from specialist staff. The specialty casemix provides good exposure to general, trauma, neurological and cardiovascular rehabilitation care.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated a commitment to a career in Rehabilitation Medicine and a strong interest in research and teaching.

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia

Candidates must have completed the AFRM Fellowship Examinations and have met the requirements for AFRM Fellowship at the time of application.

Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills and judgment and expertise.

Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team
