Purpose of Position

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical for the above position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located Lithgow within the Department of General Practice

 

Successful applicants will be expected to providing effective, efficient, evidence based, high quality multidisciplinary care for people attending Lithgow  Hospital.  As  well  as  providing early intervention with the objective of hospital avoidance. Applicants will be expected  to contribute to the Lithgow General Practice on-call roster as well as provide inpatient care, consults and procedures as credentialed for patients.

 

Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice within six months, will be considered. If successful, the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed

 

The position will be for an initial period of 12 months and may be extended without advertisement for a further 5 years subject to funding and clinical need.

 

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. Additional  qualifications  and  experience  in other speciality areas of practice, may be approved in the credentialing process

Selection Criteria Possess or be eligible for full registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997.

Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring I audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position

Sound clinical knowledge of General Practice demonstrated through successful
clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.


High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working
within a multidisciplinary team.


Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.

Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical
staff.


Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.
