Purpose of Position

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District.  The position will be primarily located at Blacktown Hospital within the Department of Diabetes & Endocrinology.

 

The successful applicant will be a Staff Specialists at Blacktown Hospital (outpatient and inpatient care), and Westmead Hospital (outpatient only).

 

Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within four months, may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.

 

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.

 

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

Selection Criteria • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

• Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.

• Sound clinical knowledge in the specialty of Diabetes & Endocrinology, and particularly in management of obesity, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.

• Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including: High level interpersonal and communication skills, Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team, Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice, including evidence of College based CPD & Demonstrated commitment to teaching, supervision, and research.

• Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.

• Recent clinical practice in a major teaching hospital environment in Australia.

• A demonstrated interest in the subspecialty area of Obesity Management.

• High level of interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
