Purpose of Position

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above

position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be

primarily located at Lithgow within the Depaartment of Obstetrics/Gynaecology.

 

Successful applicants will provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient

and on call specialty Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services as determined and required by

the Hospital and Local Health District.

 

The position will be for the remainder of the current quinquennium.

 

Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of

Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic

appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and

will be held only during the tenure of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District

appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will

be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.

 

The number of sessions will be 1 x 5hr /2 wks elective surgery and Fee for Service for Inpatient and Outpatient. The Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging

across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Selection Criteria Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia

Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian College and New Zealand College of
Obstetrics and Gynaecologists equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act
1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award. Evidence of Continuing Medical
Education and self monitoring / audit practices consistent with the scope of practice
requirements of the position


Sound clinical knowledge in Obstetrics / Gynaecology demonstrated through
successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the
position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to
the specialty.


High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working
within a multidisciplinary team.


Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent
with contemporary best practice supervision standards

Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical
/Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour
to junior medical staff.

Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or
clinical research as required within the Department
