  • Position Summary:

    Join an outstanding multidisciplinary team in a busy, integrated and rewarding mental health service.

    Applications are invited to join our dynamic service from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre and Emergency Department.

    Applicants should have Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand college of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

    The successful applicant will have AHRPA registration, and possess technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent psychiatry specialist.  Experience in psychiatry and a sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act and its application are essential. Experience in research and a preparedness to participate in established research, teaching, and supervision are required.  The successful applicant will participate in the on-call roster and provide in-hour and out-of-hour services to the Mental Health Service at St Vincent’s, Sydney..

Selection Criteria Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);

Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s State Award;

Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Psychiatry commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position;

Experience and expertise in adult psychiatry in a teaching hospital environment and in the provision of services within an integrated mental health service delivery model encompassing hospital and community based care;

Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes

Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience;

Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment;
