Purpose of Position

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above

position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be

primarily located at Lithgow Hospital within the Department of Anaesthetics.

 

Successful applicants should have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of

Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Applicants with a special interest in a

related field or other will be considered.

 

The number of sessions/days will be negotiated, and involves the management of

inpatients, outpatients and may require some on call. Appointees may be eligible for

credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local

Health District.

Selection Criteria 1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

2. Possess Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award.


3. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self monitoring I audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position


4. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.


5. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.


6. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of special interest of geriatrics/echo cardiology demonstrated by relevant qualifications and I or appropriate post Fellowship clinical experience.
