Purpose of Position

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated and skilled Senior Occupational Therapist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to provide Occupational Therapy services to patients across the St. Vincent’s Hospital Campus.  The clinical specialty areas that this position will primarily provide Occupational Therapy services to include Palliative and Supportive Care at Sacred Heart Hospital – inpatients and community home based services.  The position require supervision of other staff and students, and is required to participate in Occupational Therapy team activities, quality improvement and research. Assistance to other clinical areas at St Vincent’s Hospital may be required depending on team capacity.

Selection Criteria Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and Current Australian Occupational Therapy Registration (AHPRA).

Extensive postgraduate Occupational Therapy clinical experience with significant involvement in one or more in the following areas: Palliative Care, Haematology/Oncology, Motor Neuron Diseases, Transplant or other life-limiting illness.

Extensive experience in provision of clinical supervision to Occupational Therapists, Diversional Therapists and other support staff and students.

Well developed communication and negotiation skills, including verbal, written and multidisciplinary liaison.

Experience in clinical management including service planning and conducting quality improvement projects.

Experience in teaching and consultation in related clinical areas.

Current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s License.
