Purpose of Position
  • Provision of Medical leadership and operational and strategic management of the SWSLHD Sexual Health Service.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the District wide development, implementation and evaluation of Sexual Health Service initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Provide direct clinical care to priority populations attending Sexual Health Clinics in SWSLHD.
  • Manage all aspects of the Sexual Health Service including clinical care provision, human and physical resources, financial management and WH&S.
  • The specialist appointment is substantive, the role of Director is reviewed for reappointment every five years.

Selection Criteria 1. Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine of RACP or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award and current unrestricted NSW driver’s licence (P2 acceptable).

2. Demonstrated high-level experience in clinical management of sexually transmitted infections.

3. Comprehensive understanding and application of current National and State policies, strategies and initiatives in relation to sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

4. Demonstrated ability in clinical governance and quality improvement responsibilities

5. Demonstrated experience in service management including financial, performance and workforce management and strategic planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation.

6. Demonstrated analytical, critical appraisal and problem solving skills and high-level verbal and written communication skills

7. Demonstrated capacity to use computer based applications and information systems.

8. Demonstrated experience in developing partnerships and working within a population health framework.
