Purpose of Position

To further develop skills required to be an effective Child Life Therapist through experience and study. The experience will be gained by: supporting children through their medical interventions and assisting in their ability to cope with illness and hospitalisation, involving the planning, implementing and evaluating of age/developmentally appropriate experiences; providing opportunities for therapeutic play and recreational activities for children/young people in hospital both individually and in groups.


Exciting opportunity exists for a New graduate and intern position within Child Life Therapy. The role will commence part-time and the hours are flexible and can be re-negotiated as the year progresses. The role will be up to 2 years in duration and will contain a training component to ensure the necessary Child Life competencies are developed.


This position is Temporary Part Time initially up to 03/02/2018 and is classified as a Play Therapist Level 1.

Selection Criteria 1. University Degree in Education (Early Childhood or Primary) or equivalent

2. Experience with children aged 0-16 years - especially 0-8 years

3. Ability to work independently and within a variety of teams and disciplines

4. Effective study skills

5. High level of organisational skils

6. Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
