Purpose of Position

Provide high quality, specialist and evidence based, Child Life Therapy to children and young people referred to the Kaleidoscope Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (KPRS).

You are required to provide evidence against specific diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at your own cost prior to appointment.

Selection Criteria Must hold a Tertiary qualification in early childhood, primary teaching or a related field that includes two years study in child development, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer

Demonstrated ability to provide education, training and leadership including a commitment to the education and supervision of students

Significant experience in the specialist assessment and treatment of children and young people with a complex disability and rehabilitation needs in a healthcare environment

Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to understand their needs, enhance service delivery and act on situations when the norm is to wait for a situation to resolve itself

Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as part of a multidisciplinary team

Demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development, evidence based practice in paediatric clinical practice and participation in quality improvement projects

Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills

Current driver’s license (NSW eligibility) and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances
