Provide a high quality service to clients of Child and Family Health Services, including counselling, comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments and service delivery.

  • This is an exciting opportunity for a new Social Worker to join the Child and Family Psychosocial team within Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Care and Community Health
  • This full time position with responsible for the provision of a high quality social work service including counselling, multidisciplinary assessment and service delivery to clients of the service
  • The position will be based primarily at Penrith Community Health Centre, however travel to other sites across the Local Health District may at times be required

Selection Criteria Bachelor Degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Level 1: newly qualified Social Worker with less than three years clinical experience;
Level 2: a minimum of three years clinical experience as a Social Worker Pathologist and the ability to work with minimal supervision and experience providing child and family Social Work services.


Ability to work with people affected by domestic violence, child protection issues, postnatal depression and low risk suicide in all age groups

Ability to work with people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, those who are culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/ or come from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds

Understanding of the role of a social worker in a Primary Health Care framework, including evidence informed interventions (such as early intervention, group work/family therapy), building effective partnerships and collaboration, record keeping and continuous improvement.

Good written and oral communication skills, time management and demonstrated ability to utilise various information technology applications

Current NSW Driver’s license (including P1 or above) and ability to use for work purposes. This may include driving between centres in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
This position requires a Working With Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children's Guardian.
