Purpose of Position

Provide a comprehensive Play Therapy service to the children and families in the paediatric unit of the Manning Rural Referral Hospital.

Provide music, art, and play therapy to the children within the relevant clinical settings.

Contribute to the planning and development of play therapy within the paediatric unit and other serviced areas.


An eligibility list will be created for similar positions, both permanent and temporary, in the future.

Selection Criteria Tertiary qualifications in Teaching/Education (Early Childhood or Primary) or a related field that includes two years study in child development or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.

Demonstrated experience of play therapy, with an understanding of play and the value of play within a health care setting.

Significant experience in planning, implementing and evaluating play programmes for all age groups.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and with inter-disciplinary teams, good time management skills and be flexible to meet demands.

Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and research. Experience in planning and implementing evaluated services is desired.
This position requires a Working With Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children's Guardian.
